lent

Lent is a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. In preparation for Lent, students had a Mardi Gras feast on Tuesday, March 4th. We then started the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday Mass on March 5th. During Lent, students will participate in weekly Mass and reenactments of the Stations of the Cross. Students in grades 3-8 will also participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Finally, we will participate in a collection for the Missionary Childhood Association. As we continue to prepare for Easter Sunday, we encourage parents to attend Mass with their children and talk about the meaning of Lent and Easter.
