At Saint Mary School we celebrate the Catholic traditions of the season of Lent. We begin the season with Ash Wednesday and end with a Resurrection (Easter Day) Mass. Some of the spiritual disciplines that students learn through practice and direct teachings include prayer, almsgiving, and making small sacrifices that elementary and middle school students can understand. In addition to our weekly Masses, students share their understanding of the Stations of the Cross through weekly prayer services. On Holy Thursday we celebrate with a Seder Meal and then begin the Easter Vacation. These teachings and practices are part of our school's vision as we aim to help students develop a deep personal relationship with God and integrate Catholic teachings, traditions, respect, community, and values in their quest for knowledge as life-long learners.
In the pictures below, we see students participating in Ash Wednesday traditions and Kindergarten and buddy classes presenting the Stations of the Cross during one of the Lenten Prayers Services.
